Postnatal Mother and Baby Group

This is a nurturing and supportive group which is beneficial to mothers and their young babies from six weeks up to crawling age. These classes encourage meaningful interaction and bonding with your baby and are a great way to meet other new mums.

Each class includes:

  • Baby massage
Simple massage strokes to help soothe and comfort your baby and support their growing body.
  • Gentle yoga based postnatal exercises
To restore strength and tone to your body and help relieve aches and tension. The poses can be done either with your baby or with baby close to you.
  • Relaxation and breathing
  • Breastfeeding / feeding support

At the end of the class and there is plenty of time to either chat or discuss common issues such as sleeping; weaning; postnatal depression; transition into motherhood; family dynamics and where the day goes!

This is a relaxed and informal class so don’t worry if your baby needs to feed or sleep during the yoga / baby massage. Take time out with your baby when you need to and join back in when you’re ready. Please bring a cushion or pillow, a blanket and a yoga mat (let me know if you need to borrow one) and wear loose comfortable clothes. It is also preferable to have short nails for the baby massage.

I am mother to a lively 9 year old girl and I have held a lifelong interest in birth and babies have always been drawn to working within the realms of pregnancy and birth. I feel privileged and honoured to be doing this work and give thanks to the many parents and parents-to-be I have worked with and who inspire me to continue supporting mums, dads and babies.

I began my training with Michel Odent and Liliana Lammers in 2004 on their Paramana Doula course and went on to complete a two year course in Natural Active Birth and Parenting with Kassandra Clemens, qualifying in 2007.

Breastfeeding my daughter inspired me to train in this area too. I trained as a Mother Supporter with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, was involved in my local breastfeeding group for a few years and used to donate breastmilk to the milk bank at Southampton hospital.

Previously I have run Steiner Parent and Toddler groups and parenting groups for mums and young babies. I also hold a degree in Psychology and have taken Reiki Master training. I am fully insured, a registered member of FEDANT registrant no 11867, Doula UK and hold an enhanced CRB disclosure.

I continue to attend various study days, courses and conferences relating to pregnancy, birth and parenting and keep up to date with research and new ideas.
