Ayurvedic Facial Massage
This truly holistic treatment works primarily on the pressure/marma points of the face. Pressure points are vital energy points similar to acupressure used in Chinese medicine. In Ayurveda, it is said that the “life force” is located in the head.
By balancing the energy within these vital points, it will promote health at all levels within the body. The stimulation of pressure points in the head is said to stimulate the hypothalamus, pituitary and other areas of the brain to promote healing to be relayed to various parts of the body.
Marma points are an integral part of Ayurveda and are the subtle pressure points, similar to points used in acupressure, that stimulate the life force or pranic flow. The mamas are anatomical places on the body, mostly composed of flesh and bones.
This treatment involves using pressure points on the back, neck, face and scalp and includes an optional deep cleansing facial mask. Not to be confused with a beauty facial.

I regularly attend workshops with senior teachers to update my skills and I currently hold the Iyengar Yoga Junior Intermediate Level 3 Certificate.
I qualified in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage in 1998, Aromatherapy in 1999 and in Indian Head Massage in 2001. I regularly update my skills through Continued Professional Development training. I have professional membership of the Iyengar Yoga Association (IYA UK), Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA). I am also Membership Secretary of the Dorset and Hampshire Iyengar Yoga Institute (DHIYI).
I aspire to the yamas and niyamas of yoga and aim to live according to yoga philosophy. My joy is teaching people yoga, helping them discover the benefits of yoga and seeing the small improvements or ‘awakenings’ in everyday life.
Prior to teaching yoga, I taught aerobic exercise, modern jive dancing and have a wide experience in teaching and performing. I am also a trainer in inter-personal skills, presentation skills and communications. My practical experience and knowledge of exercise, dance and aromatherapy massage enables me to take a holistic approach to teaching and clients. My work in the fields of teaching, inter-personal skills training and in management, has offered me a full and varied career in a service industry.
